Product Weights – Fraction Weights to Decimal Weights

Fishing tackle is often sold as fractional weights: 1/32oz, 1/6oz, 1/4oz and so on. These weights need to be inputted into TackleSpy as decimals. See more below.

When you are creating products on TackleSpy, it is important to input accurate weights and dimensions so that our shipping logic can determine the best package, multiple packages if needed or, combined packages for your items.

Accurate shipping quotes inside of the shopping cart provide the customer with accurate shipping costs & arrival time estimations and results in a clean customer checkout experience. Additionally, it ensures that we, being responsible for shipping, are able to purchase the appropriate postage.

Adding Weight to Simple Products #

When adding a Simple Product, each lure weight can be its own product. For example:

Product 1: Ben’s Excellent Jig Head, 1/8oz

Product 2: Ben’s Excellent Jig Head, 1/4oz

Product 3: Ben’s Excellent Jig Head, 1/2oz

The above scenario and method of adding products is the easiest. You would make each weight a different product. Therefore, when you set the weight of the product, you would simply use the chart above to input the proper weight into the product listing:

  1. Product 1: Ben’s Excellent Jig Head, 1/8oz
    1. When editing Product 1, you would go to the Product > Shipping tab > and enter in 0.125oz as the weight of the product.
  2. Product 2: Ben’s Excellent Jig Head, 1/4oz
    1. When editing Product 2, you would go to the Product > Shipping tab > and enter in 0.25oz as the weight of the product.
  3. Product 3: Ben’s Excellent Jig Head, 1/2oz
    1. When editing Product 3, you would go to the Product > Shipping tab > and enter in 0.5oz as the weight of the product.

Adding Weights to Variable Products #

Alternatively, we have Vendors who utilize what are called Variable Products. This allows them to add a single product, but offer variations that represent the weight options they have to offer.

For example:

Ben’s Awesome Marabou Jig

Available sizes:

1/8oz

1/4oz

1/2 oz

In the above example, you would go to the Product > Variations tab. From there, you can expand each variation option you have and set a weight for that specific weight variation, using the proper decimal for your fraction weight.

Product specifications can be challenging. Be sure and reach out if you need help.
